We’re currently undergoing a distinct seasonal d We’re currently undergoing a distinct seasonal drop in temperature in Sydney, and the brisk change also seems to be bringing a noticeable change in mood right along with it. It seems like I'm not the only one who likes to grumble about the cold snap in the weather, and to tell anyone within earshot how much I love the summer.
This weather generally leaves me looking for a bit of comfort, which I'm definitely fulfilling through foods (yes, it's ok to get comfort from food, as long as it's not your only mechanism). Winter foods almost make this weather worth it : )
So, in order to get my fix, I've hit the kitchen and gone to my old friend ginger, which is always a great starting point for me. It’s soothing, has that little spicy bite, and naturally warms up the body. And don’t be shy, use tons of it like I do. Two tablespoons of ground ginger have gone into my new Ginger Biscuit recipe, and I probably could’ve gone a third! The addition of a little sweet and heavy molasses, which also has beneficial medicinal qualities like ginger does, makes it feel just a little like a mini European Christmas.

Today I'm baking these delicious Cheesy Bacon and Today I'm baking these delicious Cheesy Bacon and Paprika Muffins from my Easy Wholefood Lunchboxes ebook.
Sometimes my kids ask me if I can “just not put in a vegetable for once”. Well, this recipe is for them! Luckily it’s still full of good nourishing stuff and you can't beat homemade! Recipe is below and link to my recipe ebook is in my bio.
Tip: These are soooo good dipped into a warming soup on a chilly day like today.
Ingredients
Splash of extra virgin olive oil
3 rashers bacon, chopped finely
1 ½ cups spelt flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
ó teaspoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
½ cup parmesan cheese
¾ cup milk
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease a 12 hole muffin tin or line tin with paper cases.
2. Heat up a frying pan with a splash of olive oil and cook bacon for a few minutes.
3. Place flour, baking powder, smoked paprika, sweet paprika and salt in a large bowl and
mix together.
4. Place egg, cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, milk, olive oil and . of the cooked bacon into
a separate bowl. Mix until combined. Pour the bacon and cheese mixture into the flour and
fold lightly until just combined.
5. Spoon the mixture into the muffin tin and top with remaining bacon. Bake for 15-20 minutes
or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. Store in an airtight container

I'm so excited that my divine @ancien_essence essence candle arrived today with a special little gift of the Mystique Nights Night Room Spray from my friend. 
What I love is that the candle is made from organic beeswax and non GMO Soy was and lead free cotton wix and essential oils. It smells like heaven and looks so luxurious. I'm currently decorating my home as we are nearing the end of our renovation and I'll definitely be needing a couple more of these for my bathrooms.

Nothing but nothing was gonna satisfy my taste bud Nothing but nothing was gonna satisfy my taste buds this morning except my soothing Spiced Quinoa porridge (with extra cardamom thanks!).
This porridge is choc-a-block full of goodness with powerhouse immune boosting properties such as protein and zinc, iron and fibre, Vitamin C, lauric acid and so much more. And it’s gluten-free and vegan too!!
I topped with my homemade granola and in season Autumn plums for a delicious melding of flavours and textures.

Last night's dinner was lamb backstraps with my Mu Last night's dinner was lamb backstraps with my Mushroom and Brown Lentil Rice. Not only did it taste sensational, while I was making it I was marvelling at how easy it was to throw together! 
So if you're looking for some comfort food from the rain for dinner tonight, I highly recommend making this earthy, grounding meal. The recipe for the mushroom and lentil rice is in my bio and for the lamb backstraps I just put them on a tray with a bit of salt and olive oil and put it on Fan Grill for 8 minutes at the top level closest to the grill then let it rest for 8 minutes or so before slicing and popping on top of the rice and I served it with a garden salad with feta. The whole family gobbled it up with glee.
